Time Riders.

"Oh, you can forget about them - they're Canadian." - Maddy

I finished reading Time Riders by Alan Scarrow and I have to say what a whirlwind adventure it was. This book kept me on my feet the entire way through, I like how history's integrated into it all so fluidly, I mean I'm still not use to 9/11 being history but wow! The chemistry between the teamwork and friendship tore me to bits. I basically tear jerked all through the latter half of the book. The concepts of time travel always intrigue me to keep on asking and I'm totally hyped about what's coming up next for these young bright minds.

So, if you like tapping into your adventure-side, where time travel is at the grasp of your fingers and history always seems to amazes you with its complexities, then this is a book you wouldn't want to miss out on! Action, adventure, sci-fi, history - mixture of brilliantness.

Just won an children's book award too!

Memorable Characters: Karl and of course, Bob.

all time heroine.

pretty much what the title describes. Just now, I felt the urge to revisit one of my all-time favourite biblical books - Esther. Although I like to following the realm of politics and the movement of human society and what not, I'm not really that proactive (more spectating if anything). Not really much for the women's rights movements or anything. But that doesn't mean I'm necassarily ignorant of it either. I'd have to say my attitudes towards it all is much like Esther. During her time (and prior) as Queen, she was always told what to do (most of the time). She knew her place and her surroundings, given that the women were subjected to some harsh times back then. And, was she scared out of her wits? damn straight she was. But even that didn't stop her from defying the law.

Esther showed more grace, a sense of strong-willingness and courage that I'd like to one day attribute to. You see, I think most women's representations are rather sympathetic and compassionate, obviously - a motherly nature. That isn't technically a bad thing at all, but we all seem to forget that that's what makes us all human. Trouble only erupts because these human traits mix with dominant concepts of power, and when we think power, we think boldness, charisma - men. Being forever showered by the misconceptions of the weak, we are made to feel like we're in opposition to men. Moreover, the feminist views of society are more transitional than ever and forever will be. But Esther definitely wasn't the case, she had a strong relationship with the King, and vice versa. She still had a voice that allowed her to speak for the better of Mordecai, the Jews and her husband. So I thought I'd share that with you.

she is in my eyes 'the good wife' - ringin' any bells yet...?
"ho ho ho, don't go pushin' your luck, kiddo!!"

"whistleblowers".

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/outrage-grows-over-afghanistan-war-files-on-wikileaks/story-e6frg6so-1225897331516

So WikiLeaks have done it again and they've really done it this time. If you've haven't heard already, they've released heaps of top secret documents from the Pentagon and everywhere else in regards to the war over in Afghanistan, over 90, 000 files dating from 2004 - 2009, have been uploaded and is at everyone's disposal to read. So the world is in the midst of discovering all of the war crimes and injustices during such a dark period, but not just from the US though, it appears that Australia hasn't avoided the firing line either, it seems they've been covering up as well. Obivously the US and others affliated aren't taking lightly either, hoping to find whoever leaked the documents in the first place.

I have to agree, that things such as war crimes shouldn't be kept covered if you knew that you could've prevented it from the beginning. But what is justice in the times of war and could have been avoided anyway? It's a very messy matter, believe me - spending a semester learning about the morality of war, it's ridiculous in defining a justified war. But hey, it's put in place for a reason. Conclusion: WikiLeaks, you redefined national security and intelligence. hmmm you're living up to your name.

the series of dreams.

okay, so Masterchef has just finished airing and what a roller coaster ride it's been. If you've haven't seen it before I suggest you do. It's like The biggest Loser but you won't ever feel guilty about yourself. FACT: food is the forgotten wonder of the world. You know how you find yourself relating to contestants throughout the duration of the series? Well, I can honestly say that I didn't have one, I mean if those guys can create dishes on a spur like that then, they're winners already. The way to my heart is through my stomach ;). alright, truthfully, I found myself disliking contestants and I was pretty much edging off my chair whenever a contestant left.

I'm a dedicated TV viewer and I'd have to say - reality TV couldn't get any better.

I'd like to review the series if I had the time, but it's way too long and not mention every single picture is pretty much watermarked (ugly!). So the finer points of it all, who am I kidding. Just watch it for yourself. They also previewed the next round of the series: kiddy masterchef - Australia just reached a new level of child labour. I'm looking forward to all!

Muahahah!! I'm gonna eat you!!

so it begins, starting now.

so I did say I'd begin writing a blog (I was quite serious), but I can't seem to stop smiling and laughing at myself for even trying. The problem: my commitment level is about as low as my height. What first interested me in writing one, you think? Well, I'd have to thank my dear friends who inspired me to get with the times.

the purpose of this blog: seriously, I've past the age of "dear journal..." since touchtyping seems to actually keep up with my thoughts and I won't find myself ripping out 10 pages for the perfect diary entry header. A person once told me that I can be random at times, good or bad? you decide. I'm smart enough to know when enough's enough, but I think I like randomness getting the better of me.

content wise, like I said: random rambles of an almost grown up by human society standards. So, whatever I find interesting, controversial, or down right fun, I'll post. I won't give you detailed descriptions about my day-to-day life, coz I believe my life (and you can ask anyone) it's really boring, so it's not even worth retelling. Maybe on the one off where something amazing happens then, yes.

still, can't help but feel really OLD since I'm starting at level one of blogging. So I hope you guys get a good read whenever you come on and visit (you won't be disappointed). I mean if you want to know what I get up too, I guess this is it. Also, if you think it's worthy enough to share, spread the word!! It's not a bad thing to comment either, I'm writing for opinions and virtually opening my mindset to cyberspace.

so welcome.
